FOX 17 NEWS

I executed all things digital for Fox 17 News as a nightside digital content producer. I wrote for the fox17.com, making sure the site was updated hourly at minimum. I ensured our social presence by posting throughout the night on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, utilizing live elements when warranted. As the only member of the digital team at night, I also communicated with the newsroom to share content across platforms including writing, recording and producing nightly Amazon Alexa updates. I worked with our talent to enhance their social media profiles and build content for Fox 17 News during both breaking and non-breaking news situations. In the competitive Nashville market, I constantly brainstormed methods to propel our digital presence one step ahead of the other news media outlets

KOMU-TV

I’ve worked as a news producer to write, create, booth and manage morning, dayside and nightside newscasts on deadline. Writing includes local, national and world content as well as promos and teases, live reporters and breaking news. As a digital producer, I’ve created content for online and social media, embedded social content and managed the digital face of KOMU-TV. At the assignment desk, I’ve worked side-by-side with the content manager to assist producers and digital team and followed-upon stories using police scanners and social media to consistently break news

OTHER SKILLS

Adobe Photoshop CC, Microsoft Office, iNews, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Newscutter, Synapse CMS, Social News Desk, basic HTML5/CSS, content-sharing via FTP services

COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN

I selected, edited and published photos for the Columbia Missourian on daily deadline. I communicated with both the internet copy editors and print designers to create content online and in print. I managed photographers and assignments to ensure deadlines were met and the content fit the Missourian’s photo standards for print, online and social media

Visual Leader

Field producing at the 2015 SEC Swimming and Dving Championships

Being a visual leader means seeing a story come to life from start to finish. From the moment news breaks and throughout a story's lifespan on social media, visuals drive the content. As a visual leader, I know how to own content from start to finish to deliver a timely, unique product on-air, online and on social media.

WEATHER FACEBOOK LIVES

I produced engaging Facebook lives weekly with our meteorologists to bring timely weather updates to our audience as a complement to the stories on fox17.com. In this live, Nashville’s Cumberland River swelled above action stage so I took our chief meteorologist Katy Morgan out behind the station for a visual of the high water levels while engaging with viewers about the forecast.

CREATIVE INSTAGRAM STORY

I created a concept for the Fox 17 News Instagram to join in the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, 2018. I shared a photo and boomerang of all the women in the office on our Instagram story. I also worked with the talent and newsroom staff to answer a series of questions related to International Women's Day on our Instagram story. The full story garnered hundreds of views.

DIGITAL WORK

December 2017

I connected with Emily’s family after discovering a video on Facebook of her star moment during a middle school basketball game. She is a student with down syndrome and other health issues who loves basketball. She got to live her dream thanks to her teammates. I used the video to promote both my copy online and our broadcast story on multiple platforms. I’m proud to have helped share her story.

APRIL 2017

To complement the hype around the Nashville Predator's first Stanley Cup run, I wrote about a Missouri fraternity's virtual wager with county superstar Carrie Underwood ahead of the Preds/Blues playoff series. I found their video on social media and set up a Facetime interview with some of the fraternity executives to use on-air as well. Not only was it enjoyable to write, but it also performed well on social media.

MARCH 2018

I interviewed two gardeners at Nashville's Cheekwood Estate and Gardens and organized a guide to help people identify the spring flowers blooming across middle Tennessee. I built a photo gallery to complement the story. I also designed a spring flower bingo card to challenge people to find and identify the spring blooms in their neighborhoods.

MARCH 2017

A middle Tennessee teen was found in California after she went missing with her middle-aged teacher. The media coverage of her Amber Alert was extensive, but this story was the first time we learned the timeline of her disappearance. I created a Google map for this story to plot all the pair's known locations leading up to their capture.

2015-2016

I produced our digital coverage of high school football for two seasons. We sent out more than 12 teams each week to cover games across mid-Missouri. For 10 weeks, I curated field reporters' and fans' tweets into a live blog published online in reverse chronological order. I also communicated with reporters to ensure everyone was meeting the vision for our live coverage.
